About the session
Based on her extensive experience as a Trade Marks & Patent Attorney, Dr Grace Chan will provide an overview of the basics associated with different IP rights including; patents, trade marks, registered designs, copyright and confidential information. The discussion will explore what comprises intellectual property, the different forms it can take, and an overview of the patenting process.
Dr Angela Wu will provide an overview of RMIT's internal IP and commercialisation processes, such as:
- What to do if you think you have an invention and what are the implications.
- What options there are to commercialise your invention
- A typical situation as to how RMIT deals with IP and what possible commercial outcomes can result, including some case studies.
