University Events and Venues are responsible for the planning, management, implementation and publicising of major events hosted by RMIT University. The delivery of a range of high quality events is a key element in realising RMIT’s aim to be a global university of technology and design. Events such as seminars, public lectures, openings, workshops, launches and conferences showcase RMIT. It is therefore essential all RMIT events be presented in a thoroughly professional manner and aligned with RMIT’s strategic direction and business plan.

We ensure RMIT events are conducted safely, of the highest quality, and respect the organisational and ceremonial protocols of RMIT and of those institutions/organisations to which RMIT plays host. University Events and Venues must be notified and involved in the planning and coordination of any major RMIT event involving VIPs.

University Events and Venues provide assistance with various aspects of event management including:

  • Event concepts
  • Event and conference formats
  • Finance and event budgets
  • Invitations/RSVP procedures
  • Sponsorship
  • Venue selection and negotiations
  • Entertainment
  • Technical support
  • Banners/signage
  • Food and beverage
  • Photography
  • Event management strategies
  • Event communications, public relations and media
  • Key stakeholder management including client and committee relationships
  • Merchandise and corporate gifts

Additionally, the office manages RMIT’s principle venues including Storey Hall, Kaleide Theatre, Capitol Theatre and the Design Hub.
