Sustainability learning and teaching
RMIT University’s graduates have many opportunities to create a more sustainable future. In their professional lives especially they make many decisions which in some way influence the actions of industry, government departments and services, and society more broadly. The learning experiences our students have at RMIT University shape our graduates’ professional practice and how well equipped they are to act sustainably.
Students are concerned about sustainability. Providing learning experiences which integrate the aspects of sustainability relating to their discipline/program area supports students to see the relevance of sustainability, and gives them the skills and knowledge to contribute now and in the future.
Learning for sustainability gives us the skills and knowledge to understand how our decisions, choices and options in life impact upon the world; locally or globally, socially and/or environmentally, now and in the future. It encourages us to evaluate the impact of these options before we act, so we are able to make more informed choices.
