Open Research - Including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples Traditional Knowledge and Culture

A collaboration between the Indigenous Research Network and the RMIT University Library, as they discuss and explore considerations and ethical implications inherent in open research practices involving Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Hear from Professor Gary Thomas, Pro Vice Chancellor Indigenous Education, Research and Engagement, and Professor Matt Duckham, Director Information in Society Enabling Impact Platform (EIP), as they delve into the principles of ethical research, and explore how to respect and uphold the integrity of Traditional Knowledge and cultural heritage in data sharing, publishing, citation practices and the ethical navigation required when working with Indigenous knowledge. 

This invaluable opportunity promotes a deeper understanding of the complexities of open research with Indigenous communities, fostering a more respectful, inclusive, and ethical research practice. 

This is a hybrid event. It will be held at the Kaleide Theatre, which is located in Building 8, 360 Swanston Street, Melbourne, and will also be live-streamed for those who are unable to make it in person. A livestream link will be provided in the week before the event for everyone who enrolls.
